Richard Kernick Background I have an extensive experience in system development, project management, card program design and implementation, including “hands on” experience with point of sale systems, payment systems, smartcards, card centre operations, and card processing software, including the CardPac and VisionPlus card processing systems. I have specialised in the development and implementation of card and electronic payment solutions, including smart card based loyalty programs in the banking and retail environments. I have always been closely involved with the major card associations in developing Purchasing Card, co brand card and consumer and corporate card programs, both from an IT and product development perspective.I have also managed the program development for a retailer entry into the financial services market. My
background is in systems strategy; project
management, business systems integration, business analysis and business
redesign; and E-Business in the financial services and retail sectors.

Prior to founding Chipcards ltd, I was in various financial services industry roles, as well as a principal consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers Management Consulting (now part of IBM Global Consulting Services). In these organizations I was primarily a development manager and consultant, providing card product and programme design services and managing implementations for clients internationally. Many of these were quite innovative and high-profile projects involving new or emerging technologies in the banking and retail sectors.
